RUC Mining – Appin Ventilation & Mine Access Project

In February 2024 NEPEAN Engineering & Innovation successfully completed its scope of works for two ventilation shafts and mine access for RUC Mining Contractors as part of the Appin Ventilation & Mine Access Project – VS8 Headframe.

Adequate ventilation and mine access are crucial elements for underground mining operations, ensuring the safety and efficiency of approximately 1800 employees working at the Appin Mine. These shafts will not only facilitate air circulation within the mine but also serve as vital access points for miners.

The completion of this  multi-million dollar contract adhered to environmental regulations set out by the Department of Planning and Environment. The work within the VS8 Headframe package included procurement of all local Australian made products, supply, fabrication, and painting of 400 tons of structural steel, 2,200 meters of purlins, 21 tons of floor plate, and 250 meters of handrail.
